Jennifer Aniston and ex-husband Justin Theroux lost their beloved rescue dog named Dolly in July. The estranged couple came together to remember their sweet pet for a touching burial, and even after all these months, Aniston is still mourning Dolly's death.
The 50-year-old Friends actress appeared at a press event for her new series, The Morning Show, last week wearing a beautiful diamond necklace featuring a picture of Dolly. It's a gorgeous tribute to her beloved dog, and it's also a powerful message supporting animal rescue and adoption.
Aniston and Theroux rescued Dolly 14 years ago. Named after one of Aniston's idols, Dolly Parton, the rescue dog was an important part of Aniston's life. She was there throughout her 7-year relationship with Theroux, including their divorce. But through it all, Dolly's love was always a constant.
Dolly died in July, and her family celebrated her life and mourned her death with a touching burial ceremony. Theroux posted pictures online of the all-white dog draped in wild flowers. He wrote,
"Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle...our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield."
Pictures show two hands grasped over Dolly's bodies and then Theroux and Aniston wrapped their precious family member in a blanket before burial.
Dolly's death was an emotional time for the family of television stars. The necklace Aniston wore to the Apple TV promotional event is a photo of Dolly surrounded by gorgeous diamonds. It shows that while Dolly is gone, she will never be forgotten.
Aniston is an active supporter of animal rescue, and Dolly wasn't the only dog she adopted from a shelter. She also adopted a Pit Bull Boxer mix named Sophie, and she has a tattoo on her foot in honor of another late dog named Norman.
